Amanda Bossard graduated from high school in 1992. She then began studying marine sciences at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her journey in the industry of commercial seafood in 1999. At the time she was employed as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65-foot halibut boat. It was transformed into a fish tender. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999. The pair have come together to fight for their business. They both believe in conserving as well as profiting from sustainable resources within the seafood industry. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia through Bella Bossard, now mother to two kids with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to be focused on her goals in terms of finances and the environment. Bossard and her children Andre 10 and Isabella 12 make their annual return in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. They use hooks and line to capture their salmon before joining Aritan to market their products to local processors for a period of two months. Then they continue to expand their direct seafood product sales through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
